Emergency First Aid RFU
From August 2025 the RFU will not be providing the Emergency First Aid (EFARFU) courses only online CPD in first aid. RCH Training are still supporting clubs by offering RFU Rugby First Aid with the additional courses provided by the RFU at reduced prices for onsite training and open courses in Leicestershire. We are still on the RFU list of Training Providers.
Entry Requirements
Learners Must provide evidence on the day of the course successful completion of both elements shown below.

- RFU E-Learning certificate
How to Book
To make a booking, Clubs can either arrange for a course to be completed on their premises for up to 12 candidates per course. However, you will need a minimum of 4 candidates to run the course.
We have premises available for use if required; please enquire when booking your course. Individuals or clubs who only have a couple of candidates can place learners on our open courses in Leicestershire.
RFU First Aid Courses require a minimum of 4 weeks lead time for booking; please ensure you bear this in mind when arranging the course.
Emergency First Aid At Work
The Emergency First Aid at Work course delivers essential first aid training, meeting the recommended minimum requirements for appointed first aiders.
This course equips participants with a solid foundation of knowledge and understanding, including specific topics tailored for rugby volunteers assisting during matches and training sessions.
Designed for volunteers, coaches and match officials serving as first aiders, the Emergency First Aid at Work course incorporates additional rugby-specific elements. It prepares individuals to provide pitch-side first aid cover during both training and matches.
Participants gain the skills, knowledge and confidence necessary to respond to life-threatening conditions, minor injuries and illnesses. The course focuses on recognizing and managing injuries commonly encountered in rugby settings. Learners are trained to assess incidents, identify symptoms and signs of injury or illness, and provide safe and effective assistance to casualties.
To support clubs in upholding safety standards, we are offering our accredited training courses at discounted rates.
Onsite RFU First Aid Training
A range of subjects are covered, including:
• Responsibilities and reporting • Resuscitation and AED awareness • Burns
• Assessment of the situation • Anatomy • Choking
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Minor injuries • Epilepsy
• Basic hygiene in First Aid • Bleeding control • Shock
The RFU Emergency First Aid at Work course is based over 1 or 2 days days (7-hrs). Courses run from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm or we do split evenings.
Candidates must provide evidence of the completed Headcase and E-Learning module in the form of certificates at the start of the course.
Candidates will gain a Emergency First Aid at Work 1-day FAIB Certification lasting for 3 years. It is highly recommended that annual refresher training is undertaken.
Our First Aid Certificates are fully accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) and Fully recognised by the HSE and Ofsted.
A maximum of 12 candidates per course. Our First Aid at Work courses can be run at our location or yours. If you would like to book an onsite course, please get in touch.
